Governors Send Letter Supporting Toyota

Press Release

Governor Daniels and three other governors with Toyota operations in their states sent a letter supporting the carmaker to leaders of two House committees scheduled to conduct hearings about the company and the way it has handled safety concerns. Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear, Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, and Alabama Governor Bob Riley also have signed the letter.

The letter reads in part: "As you undertake this issue before your committees, we hope you will consider Toyota's long history as a steward of safety and quality, as a valued employer across our nation, and of the need for a responsible and fair response from the federal government. It is in all of the nation's interest for Toyota to be a continued success."
